Contemporary Log Homes has structured its business around custom log home design and shell kit materials. If our model plans aren't quite what you're looking for, or you would like to make modifications to our standard plans, our registered architect will assist you in the custom design of your log home. ...Easy Construction

Many people choose to build or help build their own log home because log construction is readily understood by the layman (one log laid on top of another).  We provide you with the information in our construction manual on how to "do-it-yourself".  Not only is this an attractive option for the handyman but it can greatly reduce the total cost of building.

...Our Products

Aside from the fact that it is a quality product, we choose to provide Swedish Cope logs made of lodge-pole pine as our standard type of log for three primary reasons:

  1. It is readily available, durable and the growth structure greatly reduces waste, making it highly economical.
  2. As opposed to tongue and grove, the Swedish Cope minimizes any misalignment or movement due to the humidity content of the logs, and will retain a solid seal.
  3. Over the years, the Swedish Cope has proven to be our most popular log style.

Swedish Cope lodge-pole pine logs are a very cost effective product.  With Contemporary Log Homes you deal directly with the provider, eliminating any costs or fees associated with a distributor or middle-man. Ultimately, our log homes are a better value and simply cost less.

In our standard Lodge-Pole Pine log we have the following sizes available:  7", 8", 9", 10" and 12".

We also have other types and sizes available upon request, such as:

  1. Smooth, round, double tongue and grooved.
  2. Smooth, D-shaped, double tongue and grooved.
  3. Natural, pre-fitted, hand-hewn.
  4. Redwood & cedar are also available

...Partially Precut Logs

The logs are lathed to the proper diameter and given a Swedish Cope and saddle-notched for corners at the mill prior to shipping.  After delivery to your site, the logs will require some on-site end (butt) cutting by the construction crew.

...Delivery

Upon payment in full, your material package will be delivered as close to the job site as our tractor-trailer units have access.  Unloading is the responsibility of the buyer unless other arrangements have been made.
